Lots of hype surrounded this performance as many were saying SR were a significant influence on Radiohead. Unfortunately the subtle beauty of the music was lost on much of the crowd (inc. me). It would be some years later that I discovered how good Sigur Ros really are. Jonsi’s voice curled and meandered through a pretty short set but I wish I’d done my homework. These were not songs for first time hearing, as there was little to “hook” in to. I have wished many-a-time that I could go back and be part of the audience again now those songs are more familiar. Shame, my loss – not theirs. An interesting first exposure.

This was my introduction to Sigur Ros and I fell in love immediately. Jonsi’s voice bouncing into the stratosphere was a bit much for the more laddish members of the crowd, I had to relocate several times to get away from beer addled morons. I’ll bet they all like SR now, a pity they didn’t have a bit more consideration on the day.
