sigur rós will be playing a (presumably short) concert sometime this weekend in reykjavík. it’s the final weekend of the famous bar, sirkus, which is going out in style with dozens of bands (including amiina) playing at the event which starts tonight and finishes on sunday. more information (in icelandic) is here. at the moment we have no information at what time sigur rós will be playing.

[update: the band played one brand new song to a packed sirkus (about 50 people). the song was about 10 minutes long and featured gítardjamm-ish vocals, a kicking bassline and the fastest drumming we’ve heard in a sigur rós song. the band will leave to new york tomorrow to record their fifth lp, presumably including the brand new song heard tonight.]
