rehearsal of the óðin’s raven magic concert tomorrow is now well underway. the equipment, including the huge stone marimba, was set up in the laugardalshöllin sports arena in reykjavík yesterday afternoon. another strange marimba has been made by páll á húsafelli for use at the concert, this time it’s a marimba made entirely of icelandic wood (which, by the way, is pretty hard to find). according to hilmar örn, it’s these natural instruments that are the foundation of óðin’s raven magic and set the tone to the work’s ancient icelandic theme.
