sigur rós have given the renowned ‘kronos quartet‘ permission to arrange stringed versions of starálfur and ný batterí, to be performed at the reykjavík arts festival on may 28th. steven prutsman is set to arrange the pieces with kronos but sigur rós are unfortunately unable to collaborate with them due to their busy schedule these days. this should be interesting though, as starálfur has never been played by at a concert and ný batterí is one of the few songs on ágætis byrjun that doesn’t contain any strings at all.
