wining and dining

some (unconfirmed) news from the pitchfork site:
“according to inside sources at capitol records, it seems that icelandic experimental pop superstars sigur rós were in the us last weekend being wined and dined by several majors. due to their status as opening band for radiohead on several european dates, the band have sparked interest from several us labels, including the aforementioned capitol, and possibly interscope records as well. a warning to the folks capitol: you don’t want to get fred durst into a bidding war. he’ll shove a cookie up your yeah. the band has coasted to a measure of underground success on their domestically tough-to-locate latest album; with a giant corporate marketing plan in place on their next release, who knows how far they’ll go in the states? considering their willfully difficult songs, probably not that far.”
if anyone can determine whats “willfully difficult” about sigur rós songs, then let us know. maybe its just because they’re longer than 3 minutes…
