  1. Do you know what it’s like to be a guy from #Kerch who’s been in love with a band that’s, well, hardly ever on tour — and the list of places they play could fit on half the fingers of one hand?
And every time it’s either no visa, no money, no time… or the full combo of all three.
    Pretty damn rough, dude.
But you keep believing. And waiting.

And then one day — after three hours on the road (and twenty years of waiting) — your soul finally gets an indescribable experience, the realization of an old dream.
An amazing concert hall, an incredible crowd, a symphony orchestra of the highest mastery, and the cosmic, completely otherworldly Sigur Rós.
The pearl of my concert life.
A treasure I’ve been chasing for so many years.

Moments like this help an immigrant feel at home in a foreign place.
    Forget the nostalgia, my friend.
There’s life here — and it’s so much better than what you left behind.

Am I going to Iceland for the nature?
    Yes, of course!
But there’s another reason — to feel this music where it was born.

  2. I almost missed out on this magnificent band if it were not for my friend who convinced me to watch. To see the band and hear the music for the first time live was incredible.
The way the music touch your very soul and tugs your heart strings! It felt like the angels were coming down from the heavens.
It made me felt so blessed for what I have and be where I am that very night.

Mabuhay kayo! Maynta ang tanang tao makadungog sa inyung musical.

  3. I’ve stopped counting times that I’ve had a chance to see Sigur Rós/Jonsí, I’ve travelled to Vancouver, Chicago, and even in Iceland to see the band. I was so lucky that tonight’s concert was close to home, just a short 3 hour drive haha!

The first set was very moody, beautiful, full of light, hope, sadness, all of the emotions. The second set was filled with songs that are a little bit more known from previous albums.

This is my first time seeing a performance with full orchestra and my goodness! It was amazing! Even when the sound cut out and everyone just kept going acoustic, we could hear Jonsí sing through the whole theatre. The band waited for a moment for the sound text to figure things out, and the crowd just sent their love to the band. We love you, someone would scream. keep going that sounded beautiful even without sound, someone else said. The standing ovation at the end of the performance was something to remember. The crowd just did not want to stop clapping ha ha.

Thank you for a beautiful evening! Thank you for visiting a town that usually does not get visited very often by bands of your calibre. Takk fyrir!!!!!

  4. 24 years since my last Sigur Rós concert, in Toronto. Last night was pure magic. Thank you.

  5. I have loved Sigur Ros for a long time. I saw them in Cleveland in 2003. We drove from Winnipeg, around 20 hours. I was younger then. I saw them again in Ottawa in 2006. I drove up from Kingston. I dug up my old ticket stubs (remember when that was the only way?)

This time, they came to my now home, Edmonton. To one of the most beautiful concert venues of all time, our Winspear Centre. With our magnificent ESO! With Korora, a choir that I used to sing with!

Everything about this concert was magical, mythical. The pipe organ player being introduced by being lit up like a portal to another world. The moment the sound cut out and because of those acoustics, you could still hear Jonsi and the instruments.

The first song with the choir, which in those big moments with the wall of sound and the lights left me in involuntary tears (all of a sudden, they were just there).

It was a concert I will never forget. From one of my all time favourites. In the best venue. Thank you for coming to Edmonton. Please come again one day!

  6. It has been 20 years since I saw Sigur Rós live. It was magical then and it was magical now. The Winspear show was incredible. There was a technical issue which ended up being a raw and beautiful moment. The Winspear carried the acoustic sounds beautifully and I was blown away by how professional and “go with the moment” the band, conductor, and orchestra were when this happened. I had the honour of sharing this music with my family who were unfamiliar with most of the songs. They were incredibly moved by the performance.

Thank you for choosing Edmonton, an often overlooked tour spot, it made this concert accessible to a fan like me. I was able to drive 5 hours instead of 20 to see you play. The music spoke for itself and was the true star of the evening. Blessed to have witnessed this moment.

  7. I had seen you over 20 years ago. With the symphony, however, the experience was elevated to a point where we were lost for words to describe it.
It was a rare moment of collective trance. Edmontonians are thankful.
Your concern restored hope- it was beauty in its purest form.

  8. I have a confession to make. I got the band mixed up with Röyksopp when I bought my ticket. I still knew a couple of songs but not many. I was debating whether I still wanted to go and was thinking of gifting my ticket, if it were not for the fact that it took a village of us to coordinate ticket buying for four people and one friend had flew here from Vancouver.

Song after song, I got so emotional. The symphonic sounds would take me to places I’ve never travelled before. That pipe organ! In the 40+ years I’ve been going to the Winspear, I’ve never seen it. And that angelic voice .The choir. The lights.

One of the most memorable shows of my life. Thank you for coming to Edmonton. We don’t get many shows so we are grateful

  9. It’s been almost a month since our Sigur Rós experience in Edmonton.
I still recall the quiet ambience of the room before most people were in their seats. (actually most everyone was lined up for souvenir merchandise :))
The collaborative spirit with the Edmonton Symphony, the Korora choir, Jeremy Spurgeon on the spine tingling Davis organ and indeed the Winspear building itself created an unforgettable evening.
This felt like a spiritual mountain top event more it was a concert. The pacing was deliberate as the voices floated over the space above the clouds.
The latter half of the concert blew our hair back as the lights, choir and organ came to the fore. The audience was literally lifted out our seats. Stunningly beautiful!
